Test Drive Meme - June 2014

[Hey, turns out you don't have quite enough money in your bank account for something. This AI decided to be "helpful" and did a bit of salami embezzling, stealing pennies from other accounts and deposited it into yours, making the account nice and fat. His image appears on the screen, chirping happily]

There you go~ I noticed your money was low, so I fixed it! :D

[Someone might want to explain the law to him]

[While Kaito's speaking voice is obviously artificial, his singing voice is indistinguishable from a human's - which he used to great effect by hijacking the office building's PA system and singing a lullaby to send the guards off to sleep. A camera swivels to look at you]

Don't worry - I am only using this to see where you are. All evidence will be erased once we leave. Just tell me what else you need me to do. But... why did we need to sneak in?

[It's a Sunday morning. Either it's before 9:00 and you're catching Ky on his way to church, or it's after 10:00 and you've caught him on his way out of church and toward a nearby diner for brunch. Either way, he's pleased to see you.]

Hello. Today happens to be a day off for me. Would you care to join me?

[Ky has just emerged victorious in combat against a supervillain. As the police are in the process of arresting them, they challenge Ky about whether he thinks he's doing justice.]

...I'm sorry, did you just ask me about justice? Before I answer, what do you think?

A bit late at night for that kind of outfit, isn't it?

[Well, he might not be a supervillain so much as a mid-boss guy, but you've still caught him mid-heist, and that just won't do. He's set his goons on you while he's trying to make a break for it. Do you give chase?]

[Even villains have to do mundane chores like grocery shopping and sadly Roman got the short stick this time around. So he's standing in the dairy section trying to decipher the list he'd been handed. His co-workers have terrible handwriting, and his annoyance can be seen by the way he's gritting his teeth, the cigar threatening to fall out of his mouth.]

[Ryuuta is having a lot of fun fighting the Deviobots. In fact, uh... He might be having a little too much fun.

He doesn't seem to be too concerned about any property damage he might be causing as he keeps firing his fun. Someone... may want to get him to tone it down a little.]

[Well hey there, Omegafriends. Do you like being able to simply walk around the base without having to worry about stepping on a certain someone's childish drawings?

Well, tough.

Ryuutaros doesn't care about the fact that he's in the way. He's too busy drawing to care. He's been at it for a while, so the drawings are everywhere on the floor, but he's not stopping.

He will care if you step on them, though. So better be careful.

You may notice that many of the drawings feature the various members of the Omegafriends. You might be in some of them yourself.]

6-Venture City Invaded... Sorta

Venture City is in Chaos. Not because some great threat is trying to take it over, mind control the citizens, or what not. But because these new people named Shy Guys have shown up, taking their stuff and taking it to some undisclosed location in Venture City. These Shy Guys with their masks and red cloaks have also carried off citizens as well, their short stature no deterrent from tossing these poor individuals into trees and on top of roofs. While they don't seem overtly dangerous, they are fairly strong for their size and anyone normal that tries to go after them can neither catch them or handle their dazzling acrobatic movies (Or maybe it's the fact they always seem to flash with a bright light whenever they do them.) It's up to Heroes to find the source and reason for this menace!

5-The General Guy Himself

The room was dark, with all the lights off and the churning of some sort of heavy engine running just echoing in the room. It was impossible to source without super hearing. "So you made it through my excellent soldiers? Fine! I will have my elite guard handle you!" a voice cried out. A little high pitched, but definitely still male. The lights flicker on and there was a large... pink... tank in the center of the room, its primary weapon looking like a light bulb, though the lighting bolt it hit the far wall with seemed plenty dangerous.

From behind the tank came 6 Shy guys, in stacks of threes. They seemed rather comfortable like this, as if this was a position they practiced. They all seemed ready to fight as a team against whoever had invaded the large rotunda that their General had decided to place his tank and operations.

[It was a busy day at the docks as yet another McDuck-owned cargo ship had pulled in. Scrooge was supervising the unloading of cargo, checking things off on a list when he noticed one of the cranes swaying unevenly, with loud and ominous creaking - then the cable starts fraying]

Ach! Look Out! It's Gonna Fall!

[The World's Richest Duck is a tempting target for anyone short on cash, so now there's a nefarious villain trying to kidnap him. Instead of fearing for his life, the old geezer's bill is set tightly as he waves his cane threateningly]

Now hold on just a minute you big palooka! No one storms into my office and try to abscond with me, Now git out or I'll give you a once-for!

[Now Heroes, does McDuck still need saving, or maybe you should save the poor Villain from a cane-thrashing]

[There's a group of supervillains running around town that are a bit unusual. No demands, no public presence, no real known goals or connections to anyone. They're doing something weird to apparently random citizens that leaves them hospitalized and have likewise fought off a few individual heroes using powerful but archaic weaponry.]

[That's why THE OMEGAFRIENDS have come up with a plan to attack the quartet separately by dividing them up and hopefully drawing out their leader. Your mission, should you choose to tag this, is to take out the one who's been lured to a city park tonight. It was supposed to be an ambush, but unless you have stealth powers, the pink-haired, ponytailed woman in the weird armored coat seems prepared for your arrival.]

Damn. We've gotten your attention now, I see. Did you have any demands, or do you want to just get straight to it?

[She's already drawn her sword, for her part.]

[Alternatively, there's a rather distinct-looking woman in a perfectly normal outfit doing some grocery shopping at the local whole foods market. She has quite the collection going in her cart, and is looking worriedly at a handwritten list in the neat cursive of a young child.]

What on Earth is a daikon...?

[Today is another normal day in Venture City, which of course means the city is being attacked by something that looks like a dragon straight out of a fantasy novel, clearly conjured up by some swords-and-sorcery-themed supervillain. As civilians run in terror from the flames raining from the sky, a superhero flies to the rescue!]

[No, wait, it's the weird pink lady who's been mugging people. She's attacking the monster with a drive normally reserved for the noblest of superheroes, though. What's she after?]

[Well, no matter what her reason, she's protecting people, so it's probably best to take the help you can get, right?]

[Saturday night.]

[9:38 pm.]

[Lois Lane was stalking the streets with her note pad in one hand an a cup of coffee in the other. would roll in just over six hours and she still didn't have a story for the morning edition.]

[At least not yet she didn't. But maybe her story was just around the corner....]

What I wouldn't give for an explosion, bank robbery or even a mugging right about now. This has got to be the slowest news day since the printing press was invented.

[A telephone, an arcade machine, a console version of Pong and an old computer ~~walk into a bar~~ roll into a supermarket. They're all crammed into a shopping cart, though the arcade cabinet is taking up most of the space. They're each marked with name tags- Bob the phone, Bluster Blaster the arcade game, Chippy the Pong machine and Curt the computer.]

[Bob suddenly speaks up in an automated telemarketer voice.]

Greetings, fellow consumer! We are shopping!

[Curt speaks next, in a grinding computerized tone.]

Wwee requiire twentty syeven quadruple-A batteriies. And one car battery.

[Bluster Blaster screams.]

I HUNGER!

3 - [Being short like 'The Magician', as everybody knows him as, can be a problem. Perhaps he should create a mechanical body... no. His mechanical talent is a secret! Like everything bad about him, really! Though he'd even gotten invitations to join the Omegafriends, that wasn't what he wanted.

But today? Today, The Magician is just trying to go shopping. Even cute aliens need ingredients for cooking! But he can't reach the top shelves... or even the middle ones. That's why he's approaching!]

Excuse-way me?

6 (5-ish?) - [Oh no! It looks like your friendly alien Magician is being targetted by... that's odd. Isn't that another NPC hero? Now why would they be trying to hurt such a kind helper?! Save him! Save hiiim, as he hides inside his hat.]

1. [Ah, yes. That semi-regular time of the day where by-standers are screaming and villains are cackling and a whole lot of property damage is getting racked up.]

[Tomoki wasn't a Super. He was a journalist. Which basically amounted to not having a survival instinct when he wanted to learn something. Which was now- you might notice this normal looking guy getting way too close to the action than he should be. He was a man on a mission and nothing stood between him and getting the truth.]

[Have fun with that.]

3. [Working at the office! He's probably weaseled his way into finding out the identities of some villain and he's writing up a story on the conclusion of some fight or another.]

[It's a pretty far cry than how he was a year ago. Which, for the record, was a complete mess after his girlfriend mysteriously disappeared. Once he found out she'd secretly been a superhero, he cleaned his act up and started working on helping the city so maybe he would find Haruka again.]

6- [For a limited time, the Venture City Museum is hosting an ancient Egyptian exhibit of the treasure of the tomb Queen Cleopertiti! The museum has been closed for hours, yet Jinx has apparently decided this is an excellent time to avoid the crowds and get a very close look at the giant Emerald of Isfet.]

[Hajime is being weird. But, well. That's kind of the norm when it comes to Hajime.

Still, it's worth noting. She's walking around, not really paying attention to where she's going, holding a strange looking notebook.]

[She's holding it over her head, her eyes shining brightly as she looks at it. At... least she's having fun?]

[Right as you enter the base, Hajime runs straight for you, holding up some colorful paper in front of your face.]

Hey, hey, which do you think is better? Red or blue? Aaaah, I just can't decide, they're both so cute!

[...Yes. She's calling the paper cute.]

Hm hmhm hmmmmhm~

[So here you are, up to... whatever villainous deeds you are up to, when this girl wanders your way, humming a tune. She doesn't look superpowered, though in this town that doesn't say much. One thing's for sure, she's being way too casual as she pauses in front of you, a huge grin on her face.]

Villain... [She points triumphantly at the bad guy.] Spotted!

[She giggles to herself.]

Hey, hey, are you having fun? Are you?

1. A pink blur was all that the Deviobots could see as a figure zipped in and around them, working on their nuts and bolts with a screwdriver. It was obvious that whoever was working on it was ready for action as finally the blur stopped, revealing into a costumed pink... pony? Yeah it was a pony, with a floofy mane and goggles as she lifted it up.

Several Deviobots fell into pieces, their screws removed as Fillysecond grinned at them. "Woohoo, try that on for size!"

6. "The national socialist party was founded in..." The teacher droned on about history as a pink haired girl in blue was trying not to fall asleep in her chair. School was SO BORING and not being able to run around at top supersonic speeds was boring. Then again, she was waiting at the edge of her seat for party planning.

For anyone else a day where mundane tasks such as grocery shopping or even taking a stroll through the city might seem a little dull but to this legendary hero it is nothing of the sort. Rider can be found today sat on but mostly taking over a small bench, devouring a hot dog covered in onions, mustard and of course ketchup.

"VENDOR!" he calls out. "I'll take another three of these hot...dogs as you called them! They are rather delicious!"

[... It's not every day you see a woman dressed in ancient greek robes just picking vegetables from a grocery store, oversized staff just sort of plopped into a cart.

"Subtlety" isn't a thing Lady Palutena does often... Even when just shopping.]

[Crime in progress... And then, a beam of light from the sky presages the appearance of a green-haired, staff-carrying woman.]

It seems someone is being a little naughty.

[ A bunch of robots? Please, like the great Pink Snake needed help to take out the trash.

A girl in a far too revealing outfit flits about through the skies, sound blasts firing off from the speakers on her shoulders as the music plays loudly. ]

Ha! You think you can match my sound? Just turn to scrap already!

[ ...She doesn't seem too concerned by any of this. ]

[ 4 ]

[ A small teenage girl in a chic casual outfit seems to be regarding the base with a critical eye. ] This is the great Omegabase? [ She scoffs. Scoffs. ] I expected more.

This place doesn't deserve to be graced with Lady Satsuki's presence. How can you people even bear to work out a place like this?

[ 6 ]

[ YOUR wildcard! Wanna do something with Nonon that I didn't think of? Hit me! I'm game! ]

[The sudden attack was pretty..unexpected. Enough so that Jaime wasn’t already suited up when the robots struck. It took him some time to find a proper place. He had to pretend that he was just a fleeing, scared little kid just so no one would suspect anything. But once he was suited up and ready, he jumped into the fray!

He stood in front of a group of robots, completely clad in blue carapace.]

Leave these citizens alone you..uh..heaps of metal. [Was that an insult? Could robots get offended? He didn’t know. He was a newbie and it was the best he had.]

Now I- [Jaime paused as his suit talked to him.] Yeah, I know they aren’t really heaps of metal.

[There is another pause.] No! You don’t have to analyze them to prove you are righ-

[And before he could say anything, he got blasted backwards into a car. Arguing with the voice in his head? Not a great idea in the heat of battle.]

[Jaime was a little in awe of some of the heroes he had seen as he wandered the Omegabase. There were many he didn’t know or hadn’t seen before, but then there were those that he’d heard about constantly. Seen in the newspaper or on the news. He felt like he could just geek out over the sight of some of them, but he kept that little fanboy in him in check. He was a superhero now too, even if he was a total newbie still trying to learn the ropes.

He took a moment to stop by the free snack machine, because who doesn’t like free snacks? He gets a candy bar and has his suit pull back around his mouth some so he can eat the snack himself and he takes a bite.]

This place is pretty cool, isn’t it? [He takes another bite while talking to his suit..] Not cool as in cold. You don’t have to warm me up. I mean cool as in like, really neat, amazing, impressive.

[So there's a guy in a loincloth running around the Omegabase looking freaked out at everything, because this is a little too much culture shock for him, and--

--wait, no, there he goes, he's hiding up in the rafters until he decides this is less terrifying.]

[Fighting a horde of evil robots? No problem, Amazon is here to help! He's a man-sized, bug-eyed lizard-thing, and he's jumping at that robot, and he is currently trying to bite the heck out of that robot.]

Giiiiiii! Gigigigigiiiii!

1. Oh. Look. Another Deviobot attack. Seriously, could anything really get any more boring as far as attacks were concerned. Deviobots were just so... normal.

Which is why, despite being a member of the Omegafriends, Dante was pretty much ignoring the whole thing. In fact, he was standing to the side, drinking a bottle of tomato juice (don't ask), and just generally watching the other heroes dealing with it. At least, until two of them come right over to him, equipped with blades that were very, very obviously aiming for his chest.

In the next second, Dante's behind the two Deviobots, his large sword grasped in one hand. The two Deviobots? Split in half and fell to the ground with rather loud exaggerated clangs.

And Dante's still drinking that juice, though at least he seems like he's actually going to head to join in the fight now.

4. "That's the obstacle course?" Dante asked, just taking a look at one of the 'higher difficulty' training courses. "Seriously? I know a couple of people whose pet cats could get through that thing without a scratch. I'm surprised you're able to do much in a real fight if this is one of your 'advanced' training tools."

He walks towards it, before shrugging and pulling the Rebellion off of his back. And stabbing it into the floor. No reason to leave it around where anyone could easily impale themselves on the pointy end, which he knows will happen if he just left it on a table or something.

"Alright. If I don't use my sword, my guns, or most of my powers, I bet this thing just might be able to serve as a pretty good warm-up. Why don't we see which one of us can handle this thing easier? Me using almost none of my abilities, or you using all of yours?"

Cyborg arrives in Ventures city late in the afternoon, responding to a cut-off distress call from Robin. He's already frustrated, because he's not entirely sure where in the city to look, and someone dinged the T-Car at the last gas station.
As he drives up mainstreet, a squad of Deviobots rolls through an intersection, and one slams into the side of the T-Car!

"Aw HECK no!"

Restoring the lookout in Venture Bay into a new hangout was no small task. Cyborg has been ordering heroes around all day (and doing no small amount of heavy lifting himself), when he sees that you are just standing there.

"Hey, if ya got time to daydream, you've got time to lend a hand."

[ 3-A ]

[ Middle-schoolers beware, there's a transfer student! ]

My name's Kiki! I'm from the countryside. I'm, um, a witch. I hope to get along with all of you!

[ ....Well, nobody said she was going incognito, okay? ]

[ 3-B ]

[ There's a young girl flying around town. That's not too unusual, what with all of the superheroes around. It's just... this girl isn't in a costume. And she's flying on a broom. And she... seems to have a package under her arm?

Oh, and she's approaching your character. ]

Ah! You look like the description they gave me...

I have a package for you!

[ 5!? ]

[ KIND OF.

The scene is an abandoned warehouse, as is the norm for these things. Evil robots and thugs both are all around. And in the center, tied to a chair, is Kiki. ]

You know the heroes are going to come, right?

[ The thugs ~~and robots~~ ignore her.

Save her, heroes!! ]

[ Make up your own scenario!

Kiki's not a hero, just an ordinary witch trying to make a living with a delivery service, but your character can catch her around town, taking in the sights of the big city, or anything else that might be normal for a witch from the country! ]

2. [24 years ago, Soviet scientists put PROJECT MIR on ice-and now Lord Titan has thawed her out to serve as the Lynchpin of his glorious plan! Can you stand up to this terrifying menace of technology? or will her operatic high-notes shatter your resolve?]

3[Freed from Titan's control, Mir is attempting to adjust to life in the 21st century. Keyword here is attempting. She's probably got her head stuck in the sleeve of a sweater or something at the mall and is trying to dislodge it because she can't even clothe herself yet. Or maybe she burned her tongue at a coffee shop, or tripped walking down the street or...

She's pretty hapless for a former supervillian regardless.]

1. Watch it!

[That was a close one! It seems that joining the 'forces of good' hasn't given Mir any incentive to improve her aim around friends-or maybe she just didn't care if you got out of the way of her firepower before she started unleashing it.]

I can handle this by myself.

[Despite being new to the city, Chance had quickly spotted the robots and without much fanfare transformed into Torque with his gun aimed directly at said Deviobots.]

[Chance was a new arrival to the Omegabase. Though a good deal older than some of the Supers here at 22 years old, he didn't let it phase him much as he got something to munch on while waiting to meet his fellow heroes.] Now what to get...
