Test Drive Meme - June 2014

Thinking of joining The Omegafriends, but want to get a feel for things first? Need some threads for your application sample? You’ve come to the right place! Reply with your character down below, with at least one of the provided prompts to get things going. Then, go around to other people and tag them! Have threads! Have fun!
If you’re not sure what this game is about, look here or here! If you want to lay down a reserve, go here! For anything else, look here!
We will be putting up a new Test Drive on the 15th of every month.
Prompts
1. Venture City in Peril! Dr. Devious’s army of Deviobots are ransacking the city! It’s up to you, the Omegafriends, to save the day - but you’ll need to work together to repel this sinister threat.
2. A Hero is Born! What started as an ordinary day was thrown into chaos as your newfound superpowers began to suddenly awaken! What perilous problems and zany antics will this bring about? Stay tuned to find out!
3. The Adventure Mundane! It's not all over-the-top heroics here - sometimes, ordinary day-to-day life can be just as much trouble! On the trail of a story for the Daily Venture? Frantic last-minute studying for tomorrow's math test? Harassing people to sign petitions on street corners? Hitting the arcade to destroy simulated villains instead of real ones? The sky's the limit!
4. Welcome to the Omegabase! The super-secret underground Omegabase has it all - training centers, VR simulators, free snack machines, but most important is a whole lot of Supers! Take a minute to kick back and get to know your fellow heroes.
5. The Mighty Showdown! In the life of a Super, good and evil are always clashing in battle. Today, you’ve come face to face with one of the many supervillains threatening the future of Venture City! Who will rise and who will fall? Next issue: The shocking answer!
6. Wild Card! Got an idea for a thread or prompt that isn’t one of those? Make up your own! We won’t stop you.

O-okay.
[The beeping catches her attention and she gets to her feet.]
...can you still fight, mister?
no subject
I'm good. How about you? You up for this?
i'm so tempted to ask if we can carry this over to omegafriends proper
Flipping.
COOL.
She's just going to eye you with admiration for a few moments, sniffling absently again, before her gloved hands ball into fists and the worried look dissipates into a steely resolve.]
I'm ready. How d'you wanna do this?
We probably can!
i just really like the way they play off each other, eheheh
[Two more shields pop into existence, glowing faintly. Focusing on the right half of the crowd, Sparkling Wing takes a breath - and flings them like lethal frisbees once again. She winces this time after the shields go flying - superpowered or not, throwing that forcefully was a little bit exerting!]
no subject
Kerbal-X starts blasting robots-trying his best to cover Sparkling Wing's back. He can only shoot away at one or two at a time, and he has to pause occasionally to let the laser cool, even occasionally engaging in fisticuffs with a robot. Still, it's helping to clear his head after that brush with-well nasty things.
She, on the other hand, can knock the heads off robots with her flying shields. And probably punch or kick hard enough to cave in an alloy shell.]
no subject
They swarm her, and it almost looks like too much - and then there's a burst of light as a dome shield projects around her, sending the Devibots flying again. She sags a little as the shield pops out of existence - that had been a close one...]
Hey mister! You still doin' okay?
[He said something about not being able to die but she's still worried...]
no subject
[Things are getting serious-but they have taken out a lot of the Devibots. Thestandoff is tense for a moment, before Kerbal-X reaches into his pocket and pulls something out to throw at some Devibots-and then shoots it in midair just as it passes into the crowd, making the laser powercell explode as it looses the power of a score of shots in one boom.
That at least, starts to break up the crowd as Devibots suddenly have to re-asses their odds of victory in the face of such a dramatic display.]
I hope they fall for my bluff. That was my last spare powercell.
no subject
I-I - i-it's nothing I can't handle, I can still fight!
[She's already messed up once today, she can't go getting tired now! The magical girl gapes a little at the impressive display, maneuvering herself to get closer to Kerbal-X, getting there just in time to hear his mumbling.]
...hey, mister? Can your laser gun do a charge shot? I might have an idea, just in case.
no subject
[The great thing about Kerbal-X is his boundless optimism and ability to look on the bright side.]
Yeah, I can charge it up a little. You got a plan to deal with all these guys?
[The devibots...hesitate, hearing that the heroes might have a plan.]
no subject
There's a faint shimmer of light as several shields start popping up - not anywhere near the magical girl, but on the sides of the Devibot masses, the shields set diagonally from one another. One's within Kerbal-X's range.]
Aim there.
[If everything works correctly, the charge shot should absorb and reflect off each of the shields, like light bouncing off a series of mirrors, before hitting the shield directly behind the mass of Devibots and firing at the group from behind.
Sparkling Wing smiles as she regards the robot menace.]
Hello boys, I'm waiting~!
[And she beckons at the robot masses.]

[The astronaut pulls the Overcharge limiter out of his laser pistol and squeezes the trigger-and then he holds it while the charge builds. Holds it while the energy dumps into the lasing chamber from the powercell. Held it until the smoke began to leak from his glove-and then as soon as he made the shot he dropped the gun with a gasp before the head could burn through the kevlar and rubber of his glove.
It said a lot about how much Jeb was willing to trust people that he had just met that he had dumped every shot available to him into complying with Sparkling Wing's plan.]
no subject
At the last zigzag, the energy arcs toward a shield at the back, larger than the rest of them, and it too glows before firing off a blast that picks off the rest of the Devibots -
- but it's a little more powerful than Sparkling Wing had anticipated. With a yelp, she conjures up a dome shield to protect both her and Kerbal-X, and the blast of energy hits the shield until it dissipates.
When it's over, Sparkling Wing sighs in relief, just as the protective dome vanishes.]
...I guess it probably needs a few tweaks before I try that again.
no subject
[Kerbal X nurses his hand a bit while he looks over the mangled robots. Dang, that's a lot of destroyed robots. They've probably cleared out this sector of the town, and he grabs his-broken Omegawatch.]
Hey, any landing you can walk away from like they say. Didn't you hear about the time we had to abort the Venus Express to orbit when we lost control of the first stage?
Now I think you'd better call this one in to Protector, because I've got a broken Omegawatch and I think I need to sit down.
no subject
Protector can wait. I should get you back to the Omegabase, you definitely need patching up. I owe you that much, at least.
[But then again - ]
...maybe when you're ready to stand though.
no subject
[Oh man, that bench is very inviting. So he wobbles over and carefully sits down, wincing behind the helmet. But he very carefully doesn't lean backwards.]
no subject
It's a bit of a weird sight, to be sure - a shambled looking astronaut and a feathery looking magical girl on a bench together amidst a scene of destroyed robots - but strangely not too out of place. This was Venture City after all, anything was possible.]
I really am sorry.
[She doesn't look like she's going to cry this time, at least, but she sounds pretty sad. He might have insisted otherwise, but it's clear she's still beating herself up about it.]
no subject
[He's serious about that one by the way, though officially, nothing of the sort ever happened. Ahhh, cover-ups of the embarrassing failures of your space program. Fortunately, nobody died, but still, Jeb doesn't like getting into phone booths anymore-which can be a problem in this town.]
Anyways, you did good out there. The reflection thing especially-that's going to be all kinds of useful, I can tell. Get some parabolic reflecting shield, and bounce shots anywhere you want them.
no subject
Parabolic what?
[...the science things kinda fly over her head.]
no subject
[Kids these days. What do they teach in these schools?]
no subject
Oh! That sounds pretty cool! Like a sorta pow-pow-pow kinda thing?
[She makes a zigzag motion with her arms. At the very least, she does seem really interested!]
no subject
Something like that yeah. It's kinda like how a telescope will take all the light that lands on a spot a meter or so across and focus that into your eye.
no subject
Eheheh, you're pretty knowledgeable about all this stuff!
[She's saying it because it's definitely true - but also because she's starting to get a little lost with the science talk.]
Must be your dayjob, right?
no subject
[Secret identities, right?]
no subject
Never been the best student anyways, no one's noticed much of a difference.
[And any night owl business had been attributed to teenagers being teenagers.]
Think you're ready to haul it back to the base?
