[First, she set the lamp down - gently. Then, Evangeline walked in suddenly, simply moving to slap Rozalin.]
Seriously. You're new to Venture, and you're, well, this. You've no resources to protect you from people like me. Some of whom will definitely have far worse intentions than screwing around in the periphery of one of Devious' schemes.

You...you hit me. Me.

Surely, she hasn't raised someone so pathetic as to need to rely on her when they're an adult.

[Gut punch. Rozalin starts to tear up. She's hanging by a thread right now.]

[Evangeline sighs.]
Tossed out here alone, no clue how to get along with people, with only money and no clue how to use it as your resource base.
Not a fun situation, overall.

[Rozalin chokes back a sob, and turns away to bury her face in a pillow so Evangline can't see the tears running down her face. The raw wound that is her exile is still a point of sharp pain around which her entire life orbits now.]
no subject
Have you considered trying to do something with what you have?
no subject
She's not really listening to you right now. If there was a fainting couch, she would retire to it for the rest of the day. If anything, she's crying louder to drown you out.]

[Evangeline chuckled darkly.]
I've just the idea.

What is this sudden icy feeling of dread?]

Rozalin flails like mad, trying to shake Evangeline off-but this body is too weak, too mortal to resist an elder vampire. Still, there is a curious aftertaste to her blood that belies her true nature. If of course, Evangeline has pinned several score of demons and drank their blood before so she has a point of reference.]
G-get off of me! Stop that! I won't be part of some Carmilla-esque saphic tryst!
no subject
You know, that could've killed you. A more novice vampire would've been shaken, and their fangs could tear into your muscles in all kinds of unpleasant ways.
... Also, Carmilla's an out-of-date reference.

[She reaches back and winces. Yes, still bleeding somewhat. That will leave a stain.]
And I'm well read enough to know it, that's all.
no subject
[Actually, she could, probably, if she bothered. But she didn't this time.]
Now, good news bad news. Good news is, I can taste enough magical potential in your blood that you might even be able to cast the counterspell that'll keep you from turning into a vampire - or at least the spells to avoid the vampire weaknesses.
no subject
Is that why you bit me? To turn me into some sort of thrall? I don't believe this!
no subject
Maybe. See, right now, I have some of your blood, and any time I well please, unless you apply a counterspell, I can take influence. I can unlock latent potential powers, influence your behavior in various ways... Or just cast spells on you whenever and wherever I feel like it. Change your clothes on you while you're out and about, that sort of thing.
The counterspell's not that tough, but you'd need to find a caster, or learn to cast it yourself. And, of course, two full moons in, you turn into a full-out vampire, and a hundred and fourty moons after that, it's not reversible anymore.

And that's not an easy question to answer.
