Even a city as steeped in the bizarre and supernatural as Venture City had its fair share of urban legends. Alligators in the sewers, phantom taxis, gargoyle statues that came to life after sunset.

And the Batman.

There was nothing he could do about the escaped villain at this point, whatever device he'd used, it was clear that there was no way to pursue. But there was still one thing he could do. One lead to chase down. Literally.

A shadow fell over Kallen as she fled the scene of the crime. Looking back, she'd find the same dark figure that had descended on her fellow crooks that night swooping down on her from above.

As Kallen saw the figure approach, she quickly swung back to face him, swinging a clawed arm at him to try and take the first strike.

She'd heard stories about this guy. Some said he never killed, some said he had slain many. Some said he was just a martial artist, others ascribed all kinds of miracles to him.

The only consistent thing, was that he was a damn good fighter. She'd have to hope either that she was better, or that she could get a chance to escape.

There's little he can do to actually avoid the clawed arm as he drops right on top of her. What he does do is catch the claws on the bladed fins on his gauntlet, enough to stop the weapon from cutting into him.

With the claw blocked, he pushed off, putting some distance between the two of them and rising slowly to glare at her from behind the blank white eyes of his cowl.

"You get one chance."

Ideally, that would be enough distraction for the small shaped charge currently ticking away on that claw arm to go off before she catches on.

The quick drop and sudden surge of action were enough to wind Kallen, forcing her back a couple steps.

"... Or what?"

She did, however, catch the charge... Tearing it off with a panic far greater than Batman would have expected. The charge wasn't very large, so she shouldn't have been terrified for her life, unless...

His eyes narrowed at her reaction. The explosive was definitely too small to be life-threatening, at most it would have dazed her and done some damage to the mechanisms of that arm of hers. True, part of the point was that she didn't know that, but....

Whatever the reason, it gave him the opening he was looking for. By the time Kallen realized she'd taken her attention off of him, he had already closed the gap and dropped to sweep her legs out from under her.

The sweep connected without difficulty, sending Kallen dropping... However, she was quick enough to drop her non-clawed hand down, spinning to try and get a little distance - and a position to block the Bat's next few strikes.

"Of course it'd have to be..." - The redhead trailed off. She was screwed unless she could figure out a chance to get away. There were a few spots where she could get a grip with her claw, but without an opening...
