2. A Hero is Born! What started as an ordinary day was thrown into chaos as your newfound superpowers began to suddenly awaken! What perilous problems and zany antics will this bring about? Stay tuned to find out!

[Is he Amazon, or is he an Amazon? An important difference, as the Wolfen, Franken, and Merman peoples are quite enough to deal with, nevermind a new one cropping up. Furthermore, there are the ones calling themselves Omegafriends to consider; it wouldn't do have that much trouble on her hands, even if it isn't quite her task to deal with them. It is, however, an intriguing diversion, at the very least.]

Are there more of you? I'd hate to be ambushed under a bridge by your friends, hm?

[Aw man, she was going to be late for her movie now! Flick mumbles darkly under her breath as she ducks into an abandoned alleyway. One magic incantation later and Sparkling Wing is ready to kick some robobutt and take names!

...or she would be if it wasn't for the fact she can't really fight off everything on her own. Still, she's gonna try her best! She conjures up a pair of shields and flings them like frisbees at the approaching robot menace - and while one of her shields does the job, the other is...most definitely headed to smack someone straight in the face.]

Aaaah, h-heads up!

[She's just gonna madly flail her arms around in hopes you heard her - and cringe either way, because ooh boy, that was going to hurt.]

[There aren't many of them left nowadays, but Flick loves video rental stores. There's just something about them that she can't get from internet streaming or dvd rental machines. Tonight's her night to rent a bunch of bad movies and laugh at them over popcorn and candy. She's reaching for a particularly bad movie about sharks - when her hand collides with someone else's.]

Ack! Sorry, did you want that one?

COOL.

Just give her a minute, this 16 year old girl is just. Taking all of this amazingness in, mouth agape as she tries to take in so many details. This - this was the best place ever! Free snacks! A VR room! Oh, was there a movie room too? Or a game room? Because movie night definitely had to be a thing now and -

- and she's just going to run right into someone else. Whoops.]

Agghhh, sorry! I should pay attention to where I'm going...!

[Oh noooo, she's already off to a bad start, isn't she?!]

[Hey there, Chance! Have another Omegabase newbie, although one considerably younger than you. The pink haired 16 year old seems to come out of nowhere, peering over Chance's shoulder.]

Can't go wrong with potato chips, I think! Oh, but the candy bars are pretty good too.

[She smiles at him.]

H-hey, saving this city from Lord Titan and such isn't accessory!

Well, it's neccessary I suppose...but most of the time isn't actually spent doing that, is it? I mean, Titan's plots take about 2-3 days a month to deal with and the rest is just lower tier guys mooking it up.

Huh?

[Kerbal-X is a great example of why people shouldn't use jetpacks. Case in point, when Sparkling Wing's shield smacks him in the helmet it knocks him out. When it knocks him out, he loses control of the delicate maneuver he was trying to preform of daring aerial skill. When Kerbal-X looses control of his jetpack, it rapidly becomes unstable. And with no super-powered astronaut in charge, it rapidly turns over, points him at the ground, and slams him into it hard.

If his primary power weren't conditional invincibility, one might worry that he might be badly hurt from the explosion that punctuates the crash. Instead, though his spacesuit is torn through all 22 layers in places, and hangs limply where it isn't ripped, he's able to struggle back to his feet-at least until the surviving Devibots dogpile him, demonstrating that super-strength isn't part of his deal at all.]

[Sparkling Wing flinches at the noise her shield makes on impact - and then it becomes evident something is really really wrong. Her eyes widen as the jetpack wielding Super torpedoes straight into the concrete. Is - i-is he dead?]

Oh no no no no no no no -

[ - wait, he's up! The pigtailed magical girl heaves a sigh of immense relief - and then the Devibots go on the offense. How could she have forgotten about them?! They move to swarm and dogpile him - and the magical girl leaps into action, racing toward the battered astronaut. Kerbal-X might not have super strength, but Sparkling Wing definitely does.]

Leave them -

[There's a burst of golden light as she conjures up another wing shaped shield - this one bigger - and effectively puts a wall between Kerbal-X and the Devibots.]

- ALONE!

[And then, shield still in place, she rears her arms back - and punches the shield as hard as she can. The resulting shockwave shatters the shield and sends the Devibots flying.]

[The astronaut, dazed and confused, rolls over and stares at the sky for a bit What had hit him? where had all the robots gone? He was sure there had been several. Also, bits of him ached and twinged in rather unpleasent ways. And someone was shouting loudly nearby.]

Mahnumunhuh?

[It turns out that just because you're invincible and can't be killed, that doesn't always mean that you're going to be unhurt by things. And things can be very confusing when your head spins so hard and throbs like this.]

[flickerwing]

And stay out!

[She glares at the retreating menace, just before hears a faint gurgling noise of confusion. Immediately her attention returns to Kerbal-X and frantically, she kneels next to him.]

Omigosh I am SO SORRY, are you okay?!

[She can't really see his face because of the astronaut visor but he definitely took a beating there. Which was pretty much her fault, and the thought of that almost makes her well up with tears.]

I'm...I think that my jetpack blew up. But I think I can walk it off. Suit's a wreck though. I think I cracked my visor. And...oh, where's my laser pistol? If that got damaged it might explode to.

[Well not all of us have magical-girl protection fields to keep our identities secret. The helmet does a really good job of it-but his normal voice-changer is acting up and injecting a lot more crackle and pop than normal into his voice.]

[aaaaaaaaaaaaaa THIS IS THE WORST.]

I-I really am sorry! I-I should have been paying more attention, I didn't think that was going to hit you, I promise I'll pay for any repairs and omigosh I could have killed you and -

[And she's tearing up as she rambles, angry at herself, ashamed, guilty, and more than a little terrified among other things. The tears become full out crying and the magical girl trembles, valiantly trying to keep herself from turning into an awkward sobbing wreck. She feels awful, she is the worst superhero EVER.]

Hey, hey! One, you're not paying for anything, two it was better that you hit me because I can't be killed, right? Everybody makes mistakes, that's how we learn things. I'd rather have a rocket explode on launch so I can learn something than not!

[Kerbal-X reaches out and gives her a hug, smelling slightly of cooked pork and denaturing plastic from the explosion. Then the beeping of more Devibots alerts them to the fact that the battle is still on.]

Rain check on the pitty-party?

"I was this close to being name Dweezle," Cloud said, spreading his fingers out by half an inch. His parents were a little odd that thought themselves as born-again hippies, and outside of some of the odder lifestyle choices he lived with while he was a kid (the crystal therapy sessions came to mind), they weren't bad people. They just were different.

"What are you buying me when you lose?" After all, if they were going to make this a contest of any sort, maybe there should be some kind of reward at the end of it, right?

[ Joji just blinks in amusement at the retreating lizard bugman and shrugged before punching a couple more robots to waste time. At least he could have waited for the battle to end but that was fine too. There were only a few left after all. ]

[The hug helps, and Sparkling Wing sniffles, absently rubbing her eyes. She's still gonna pay you back somehow though, mister! But she'll worry about that later, instead giving the astronaut a shaky smile.

O-okay.

[The beeping catches her attention and she gets to her feet.]

...can you still fight, mister?

[Jebediah Kerman does not have the Badass flag for nothing. Cool as a cucumber, he draws his laser pistol and inspects it for damage.]

I'm good. How about you? You up for this?

i'm so tempted to ask if we can carry this over to omegafriends proper

COOL.

She's just going to eye you with admiration for a few moments, sniffling absently again, before her gloved hands ball into fists and the worried look dissipates into a steely resolve.]

I'm ready. How d'you wanna do this?

We probably can!

Ehh, I take the half on the left, you take the half on the right. Maybe I can bounce some of these lasers from robot to robot?

[He swings his sharp fins at that robot yet again, slicing it right down the middle. At last, the robot has been defeated.]

Amazon need vine.

[And he'll hold up the rope. It's a vine, right?]

[Hey, dude, you looked like you had this well in hand, so Amazon's free to get jungle medicine...from a forest just outside the city. He returns pretty fast, though.]

[He looks at the rope he's holding and seems slightly confused, too.]
