Test Drive - August

Thinking of joining The Omegafriends, but want to get a feel for things first? Need some threads for your application sample? You’ve come to the right place! Reply with your character down below, with at least one of the provided prompts to get things going. Then, go around to other people and tag them! Have threads! Have fun!

If you’re not sure what this game is about, look here or here! If you want to lay down a reserve, go here! For anything else, look here!

We will be putting up a new Test Drive on the 15th of every month.

Prompts

1. Venture City in Peril! Dr. Devious’s army of Deviobots are ransacking the city! No, wait, Baron Von Tyrannosaur is back with another dinosaur army! No, wait, it's... really, ther's a lot of different ways a city can be imperiled. However, no matter the threat, it’s up to you, the Omegafriends, to save the day - but you’ll need to work together to repel the forces of evil.

2. A Hero is Born! What started as an ordinary day was thrown into chaos as your newfound superpowers began to suddenly awaken! What perilous problems and zany antics will this bring about? Stay tuned to find out!

3. The Adventure Mundane! It's not all over-the-top heroics here - sometimes, ordinary day-to-day life can be just as much trouble! On the trail of a story for the Daily Venture? Frantic last-minute studying for tomorrow's math test? Harassing people to sign petitions on street corners? Hitting the arcade to destroy simulated villains instead of real ones? The sky's the limit!

4. Welcome to the Omegabase! The super-secret underground Omegabase has it all - training centers, VR simulators, free snack machines, but most important is a whole lot of Supers! Take a minute to kick back and get to know your fellow heroes.

5. The Mighty Showdown! In the life of a Super, good and evil are always clashing in battle. Today, you’ve come face to face with one of the many supervillains threatening the future of Venture City! Who will rise and who will fall? Next issue: The shocking answer!

6. Time Warp! Chasing after Lady Blue's latest heist has left you temporarily stranded, along with your fellow heroes, in another era. Where and when have you gone, and how will you cope with the bizarre situation?

7. Wild Card! Got an idea for a thread or prompt that isn’t one of those? Make up your own! We won’t stop you.

[ It at least got Philip from talking forever about baseball and hot dogs, even though this doesn't seem to be one of the subjects he would go on about.

Or was it caution speaking? ]

A lot of people heard about them. Do you know anything more than rumors?
epistemophile: (it's like forgetting)

[personal profile] epistemophile 2014-08-17 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Caution speaking, for certain, but he wasn't about to make that evident given he had no idea who or what Joji was, or why he was interested.]

[He looks distractedly thoughtful again, like he had about the hot dogs and baseball.]

"Kamen Rider"; through rumors and personal deduction, someone masked who rides some manner of something during the act of upholding safety and justice in the city in which they reside. Most rumors dictate that they ride motorcycles, though I must say it would be interesting to see someone in a mask riding a horse, as in old Western movies.

[...Nice coverup, Philip.]

Rumors also dictate that "Kamen Rider"s have some manner of transformation from their normal selves to their masked vigilantism, not unlike famed members of the OmegaFriends. Data is inconclusive in regard of whether or not Kamen Riders are members of the OmegaFriends.
forgottendecade: (too much noise)

[ He's not as invisible as he's been trying to be. In fact, all it takes are a couple smarts to realize he wasn't normal. Either that, or to see the weird cracks in his arm or see him punch through metal or something dumb like that.

But right now, he was just a scruffy Asian in scruffy biker clothing talking about Kamen Riders. ]

Thjey are an old myth in some places, a fable in others. Maybe they were masked riders in the age before motorcycles, who later gave birth to the ones we hear about today. Maybe they aren't. Who knows for sure?
epistemophile: (and the words so sweet.)

[personal profile] epistemophile 2014-08-17 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
[For a kid with all the knowledge in the world in his head, Philip lacks common sense, as Akiko once stated. That doesn't necessarily always mean he lacks self-preservation, and he at least seems to somewhat understand the concept of stranger danger.]

[Which is to say Joji kind of makes him nervous, and he's not sure why. But that, of course, is no reason to be impolite. He grins crookedly, smoothing his thumb and index finger over his chin.]

Who knows, indeed?
forgottendecade: (but time)

[personal profile] forgottendecade 2014-08-17 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ He wasn't a nice guy, but he tries to be one. Some days he is better at it than other days. Today just is one of his bad days. ]

Those that do know won't or can't say. [ He waves a hand as if dismissing the line of questions and half turns to the vendor to ask for a hot dog. ]

You really should go home; this isn't a safe neighborhood.
epistemophile: (of course you're not coming over.)

[personal profile] epistemophile 2014-08-17 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Joji's turning to the vendor reminds him of his own hot dog and he looks back at it, taking another bite of it and watching the man. He swallows his mouthful and tilts his head curiously.]

I consider myself capable of keeping safe.
forgottendecade: (rest)

[personal profile] forgottendecade 2014-08-18 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
You are? Would you be too dazzled by something to want to fight?

[ Yup, even though his back is turned he is still going to continue the conversation. ]

What if you were threatened by a villain using a subsonic death ray?
epistemophile: (he opens the window)

[personal profile] epistemophile 2014-08-18 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
While I must say a subsonic death ray would likely capture my interest, it wouldn't be in a manner that would cause me to fall victim to its use. You'd be surprised by how much being dazzled by something can help one focus on escaping from it.
forgottendecade: (that foot there)

[personal profile] forgottendecade 2014-08-18 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I would agree. I find a lot of mechanics far too interesting to pay attention to mundane matters.
epistemophile: (but you can't remember.)

[personal profile] epistemophile 2014-08-18 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That is, I believe, the nature of the term mundane. There is always something more interesting to pay attention to.
