"...You'd really train me?"

Being trained by Lucky Girl? He'd like that. A lot.

She frowns a little. "Well, it'd be kind of my fault of you lost your watch." Seriously, if the Plumbers actually take thew watch back she's going to feel really bad about it, but Ben needs answers rather then just fiddling with what could be dangerous alien tech.

Ben held on to the watch, the device chirping a bit and flashing. It'd really been just him and it for two months. He didn't want to let it go.

Well, if they tried to take the watch, maybe he could use it and escape.

Though stealing from space cops? Man, that probably wasn't a smart move.

"...Okay. Let's go see him."

She pushes off the rooftop to a standing position and creates mana stairs to the street. "I'm warning you though, he's kind of weird." She bites her lower lip a little before finally admitting the truth. "He's my grandpa." She loves her grandpa more then anyone in the world, but really, people need to be prepared for the man, especially when they're expecting 'space cop' and are confronted by a harmless looking man in a Hawaiian shirt.

Ben paused before stepping onto the mana stairs (way cool!) and started walking down them.

"So if you're part...um...Andalite and your grandma is the one you got your powers from, that means your grandpa's still human, right?"

"Anadite." She corrects, carefully making her way down the stairs. "And yeah, my grandpa is human. He's kinda weird though; you might not want to eat anything he offers. They're pretty crazy." She says it with an affectionate smirk.

Ben smirked. "Kinda sounds like my grandpa. He's the kinda guy who'll serve you mealworms for breakfast."

That makes her laugh. "I think Grandpa Max tried that once." She didn't even realise she'd let Grandpa Max's name slip, but he would have had to learn his name eventually.

Ben froze. "Your grandpa's name is 'Max'?"

No. No, it couldn't be...

She pauses on her mana square. "Yeah, why?" Why did it matter? Max was a common human male name. Now if shew'd said her grandmother's name Gwen would understand the reaction.

"I actually know somebody named Max. Old guy who lives in an RV."

Max was a popular name. It just so happened that her Max cooked weird meals...and had grandchildren call him Grandpa Max. Right. Coincidence. Had to be.

Ben, why do you have to make her grandpa sound like a cook? Now she's looking at him suspiciously. Still, lots of people lived in RVs. Older people who liked to travel. "Does it have a name, the RV I mean."

Ben was quiet for a moment, that in itself rather telling. After all, not many people named their RVs.

"...The Rustbucket. He calls it the Rustbucket."

It couldn't be the same Max. If it was...

Gwen's eyes narrow and she's five seconds away from dropping Ben, literally, out of the air. "How do you know my grandpa?"

Ben didn't answer, too busy staring at her in shock.

As far as he knew, Grandpa Max had only one granddaughter: Ben's cousin Gwen. A little bit of jealousy hissed at him about it suddenly making sense that she was the favored grandchild.

"...I'm such a doofus."

"That didn't answer my question." Seriously Ben, she will drop you to the ground if you don't tell her. Not that Grandpa Max couldn't take a two month old hero to town and back, but she wasn't about to let it get to that.

Ben laughed mirthlessly, shaking his head, lifting his wrist and rotating the dial. He just wanted to get out of there.

"A guy named Ben your exact age just happens to know your grandpa. C'mon, Dweeb, it shouldn't be that hard."

"..." Ok, only one person ever called her dweeb. "Ben?" Seriously? There had to be some statistical improbability that she was an alien and her cousin just happened to find an alien watch that turned him into a bunch of different aliens. "If you're serious then you've got to see Grandpa."

"Later. I gotta get going. If Mom finds out I snuck out after curfew again, having the watch get taken away is gonna be the least of my problems."

It was a cop-out excuse, and he knew it. Heck, Gwen probably knew it, too. However, he needed some space to let it all sink in. For one thing, this meant he'd had a slight crush on his own cousin for a while now. (Yuck yuck yuck!) For another, it wasn't just any cousin but the one who got straight A's, had a black belt (probably...he couldn't remember), and seemed like she could literally do anything.

Her brows knit with worry and part of her wondered if her fears were coming true. It was cool to have some random superhero you've never known before be an alien, but when it's your own cousin that cool was probably creepy and weird. "Right." Gwen was really glad for the mask that was hiding most of her face. She thought she'd actually found and friend in all this and instead she'd probably lost her only cousin. "I'll see you later then."

"See ya."

It wasn't that he thought she was a freak. Just the opposite, actually. She was super smart and talented plus being a superhero for years? Pretty awesome.

Then there's her doofus of a cousin who got some kind of alien watch probably by accident. Guaranteed, nobody was gonna trust him with it.

He slapped his hand down on the dial, not even bothering to see what he'd selected. The watch gave him Big Chill (hilarious given it'd been the alien form that started this mess), and he soared off into the night sky.
