[There's a lot of screaming going on today. And that cry for help was what had drawn him to this part of the city. Of course, he wasn't quite expecting the source to be from one of the young heroes calling themselves "Precures."

But trouble is trouble, and so Batman swoops down from above, landing beside Peace and running alongside her just long enough to snatch the girl up off the ground. Another grappling line fired and they're off into the air... just in time to avoid a plasma shot that torches the ground they were on a second earlier.]

Waaaaaaaa- huh?

[Wait what is this why is she suddenly in the ai-

...

Oh.

She glances down, looking at the scorched area where she'd just been standing and gulps.]

That was close...

[Then she looks back up at her savior and oh god it's Batman. THE Batman. She's idolized many heroes, but he's gotta be at the top of the list. Is she dreaming right now because she feels like she's dreaming oh god no one pinch her because she doesn't want to wake up ever again.

Sorry Batman, she's just gonna stare at you with stars in her eyes.]

U-Um... I... Ah...

[He's got other things on his mind right now than starstruck magical girls, or thanks. The grapple line pulls the two of them up and over the edge of a rooftop, where he lands in a crouch just ahead of a few parting plasma shots. The bolts of superheated energy strike the roof just behind them and he quickly drapes his cape around Peace, shielding the both of them from the rain of burnt rock and steel that fall around them.

The attack only lasts a few seconds before stopping abruptly and he raises his head. No pursuit. Either the Deviobots aren't programmed to do so, or the two of them aren't considered a threat. Either way... their mistake.]

Are you alright?

[He stands up, disengaging the grapple claw and reeling it back into the launcher as he does. The question is... really more of a gruff assessment of the situation than anything else.]

[For a few seconds after he asks her that she just stares at him in complete awe. It's not every day you get saved by one of your idols, okay? So just... give her a moment.

...

She does snap out of it once she realizes she's staring, though.]

A-Ah... Yes, I-I'm fine! Um... Thank you...

[Come on, Yayoi, snap out of it, that's no way to thank someone!]

I mean... Thank you very much for saving me!

[He takes those few seconds of staring to appraise the young hero before him as well. He'd known these Precures were young but... this girl couldn't be more than thirteen, perhaps fourteen, years old. Still, he'd done his homework and he knew better than to dismiss these girls as children.]

Good, because we aren't finished yet, and we're going to need all the help we can get.

[He turns and walks back to the edge of the building, consulting a small computer device as he does. He pauses for a second and looks back over his shoulder.]

If you can handle it.

[He hasn't forgotten what it was that led to them crossing paths, and there's a hint of rebuke in his voice, but it is out of concern as well. Superpowered or not, this is no life for somebody unprepared for it.]

I... I can! A real hero never backs down from a fight!

[Let's just forget that that's basically what she was doing earlier, okay. That was then, this is now!

She'll just do her best to look serious and ready to fight. Which... might work, except this was still Cure Peace and it's like a fluffy kitten trying to look tough. It doesn't matter how determined it is, it's still a kitten. And Cure Peace is still a fourteen year old girl who's in way over her head.]

They surprised me before, but I won't let it happen again!

Good.

[Deep down inside, there's a part of him that twists in protest at what he's about to do. Because he knows what that look in her eyes was when she looked at him. She's a child come face to face with somebody she admires and he knows that that can make somebody very dangerous to themselves, make them act recklessly in hopes of proving themselves.

But he also wasn't lying when he said that they need her. And if he can use those feelings to give them another edge in this fight... well, so be it. He'll bear the responsibility of whatever comes next.]
