Test Drive - August

1. Venture City in Peril! Dr. Devious’s army of Deviobots are ransacking the city! No, wait, Baron Von Tyrannosaur is back with another dinosaur army! No, wait, it's... really, ther's a lot of different ways a city can be imperiled. However, no matter the threat, it’s up to you, the Omegafriends, to save the day - but you’ll need to work together to repel the forces of evil.

2. A Hero is Born! What started as an ordinary day was thrown into chaos as your newfound superpowers began to suddenly awaken! What perilous problems and zany antics will this bring about? Stay tuned to find out!

3. The Adventure Mundane! It's not all over-the-top heroics here - sometimes, ordinary day-to-day life can be just as much trouble! On the trail of a story for the Daily Venture? Frantic last-minute studying for tomorrow's math test? Harassing people to sign petitions on street corners? Hitting the arcade to destroy simulated villains instead of real ones? The sky's the limit!

4. Welcome to the Omegabase! The super-secret underground Omegabase has it all - training centers, VR simulators, free snack machines, but most important is a whole lot of Supers! Take a minute to kick back and get to know your fellow heroes.

5. The Mighty Showdown! In the life of a Super, good and evil are always clashing in battle. Today, you’ve come face to face with one of the many supervillains threatening the future of Venture City! Who will rise and who will fall? Next issue: The shocking answer!

6. Time Warp! Chasing after Lady Blue's latest heist has left you temporarily stranded, along with your fellow heroes, in another era. Where and when have you gone, and how will you cope with the bizarre situation?

There was some more noises from them before Zapps spoke aloud. "I think your sense of ego is overinflated."

"Nobody asked you!"

That's one airborne princess suddenly coming at the suit with a drop kick.

I don't know what that is, but I doubt that my first task would be to go around collecting other bits of magic or whatever it is you're doing.

I could have handled escaping myself! I am not a damsel to be rescued from a tower.

There was a thrust backwards away from the heavy kick as the guantlet's reformed from blades to powered fists. "Hey! Don't threaten Zapps. He's just a bit mouthy," Spark stated, though seemed ready to fight to defend. Though they seemed primarily in a dodge stance, slowly floating above the surface.

Then why'd I have to rescue you? [smug look is smug]

Mint didn't seem particularly intent to follow up. It was more or less just a one time retaliatory strike for the suit's comment.

"Well, he shouldn't be," the princess huffed, before changing the subject, "Tsk, maybe I should figure out some other way, then..."

Good riddance. Who even put that statue there in the first place? Now that it's gone, they can replace it with a statue of me.

[Not yet noticing the guy who looks just like the now missing statue...]

I was biding. My. Time.

[Dare you tell this face that is bull?]

[Yes, without a second thought]

Do you even know how to say 'thank you'?! Maybe I should just leave you next time!?

It took a few moments for them to calm down. There was some interface of emotions even when like this, so hard for her not to feel how angry Zapps was at her. More chirping between them before looking back at her.

"What abilities do you have? Might find us another way," Zapps quested.

The dinosaurs were met with force fists, blasting them back and unconscious now. Then there were blades out now for the robots, slicing them to ribbons as her thrusters activated on the back. Sliding and slashing around the waiting Discord. She didn't notice him at first until she thrust to a stop. A few clicks and responses eventually lead to her thrusters converting to a solar panels before she turned towards the man.

"Who in the Abyss are you?" a chirpy, female voice came from the 5 foot, six suited individual.

Hmm? [He gives the girl a glance, the softest of smiles creeping onto his lips as he realizes that she's completely oblivious.]

Oh, I wouldn't say good riddance. It was a nice statue, been here in this square for a very long time.

[He turns to her.] Have you ever heard the story about it?

Psh, no accounting for taste.

[Blunt Mint is blunt]

Who cares? It was just a big eye sore, and now it's gone~

[Oh so very blunt... and she still doesn't realize who she's talking to. Then again, all she remembers was that it was some weird old dude. She didn't pay it much special attention]

"Ooh!" Discord laughed, clapping his hands together as the fight went down. It was always nice seeing others throw themselves into the mix. It's considerably less nice when he sees that the hero is getting the upper hand though.

He leans forward in his seat, looking down disdainfully at the... whatever he was looking at. "I should be asking the same thing to you." He shovels a handful of popcorn into his mouth. "Just what is it that you're wearing?"

[If she looks really hard, she could probably see Discord's eye twitching erratically until he hides it and continues as if she didn't say anything.]

Well I think it was a very handsome statue, important as well. Without that statue, I think our fair city wouldn't have come to be in the first place.

[He leans in, his tone hushed.] Between you and me, it wasn't actually a statue.

[She leans away]

Don't touch me, creepy old man!

[... she's kind of talking over the last line Discord is saying, so she doesn't really hear what he said...]

[He leans back, letting out a sigh. This new generation has a lot to learn...]

I'm not... ugh...

Look, haven't you noticed anything odd about the fact that the statue is missing? Or the strange phenomena happening around the city?

...

...

I haven't seen creepy old perverts like you around until just now.

...I'm not a-Ugh, forget it!

[He gestures to the spot where the statue once stood.] A grand and evil sorcerer was encased in stone a thousand years ago and was placed here as some sort of twisted punishment.

And now the statue isn't there anymore.

Do you realize what this means now? [He's hoping he's getting somewhere]

[1.] [Ah yes, another one of those strange bugsuited heroes. This one looks like some kind of weird half and half monster and when he talks it sounds like two voices speaking together.]

[Despite being a weirdo, it looks like he's here to help. He comes out of nowhere to send a flying kick to an unfortnate raptor lackey and lands on his feet, flicking his wrist and then pointing dramatically towards the origin of this dino crisis.]

[pay no mind to the theme music, folks.]

Oi, Baron Von Tyrannosaur. You've made the citizens of this city cry for the last time. It's time to count up your sins!

[3] [When Shotaro isn't fighting crime and sharing his body with his partner to fight said crime- he has a day job. Shotaro Hidari, Venture City's very own Private Investigator.]

[Too bad most of the work he gets involves lost pets. Which is what he's doing now. Trying to coax a cat out of a tree.]

Fluffer-nutter! Here, Fluffer-nutter! Come on! Little Suzie's really worried about you!

[Making despairing cat noises is a part of the pet gathering process, we promise.]

WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED!?

[Okay, so, she was cute. He had no idea she was a time traveling thief. IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE. Now he is ...somewhere. The somewhere isn't helpful because this doesn't look like Venture City at all. Instead of being particularly rational he's going to shout indignantly at things for a little bit.]

[She looks at the spot where the statue was, then she looks at the man who seems rather intent on explaining things she doesn't seem to care about...]

[... now that she's finally paying attention, it clicks.]

[Think fast, grand and evil sorcerer, you got a princess flying at your face with a drop kick]

[The first thing that goes through Discord's mind is relief that this brat finally understood what he was saying.

The second thing was Mint's foot. Quite literally, actually, as Discord splits himself into two halves so she passes right through him.

The two sides laugh as she passes, eventually forming back into one Discord.]

Finally! I was wondering if you'd ever get it.

[So that cat isn't alone in that tree. Amazon sticks his head out to peer down at the meowing detective.]

You not cat.

[So why are you meowing like one, you weirdo?]

It seems we've been misplaced. Literally-- given that this is quite obviously no longer Venture City.

[So says the slender teenager somewhere to your right, as he always is, with a hand curiously stroking a beard he will never grow.]

It looks like we're in over our heads again, Shotaro.
